My name is Lynn Carbone.  I live in Staten Island New York with my husband Patrick and our son Brandon. I have been baking and decorating cakes for about two years now. My cake decorating career actually started as a dare between my sister Barbara and me to bake a cake for her daughter Erin Jade (my beautiful niece).

The dare was to see who could make Erin this beautifully decorated cake that we both had seen on the cover of a magazine. I had heard about cake decorating classes being taught at Michaels Arts and Crafts and A.C. Moore.

My sister was going to attend classes at A.C. Moore and I was going to go to Michaels. I was the only one who eventually went and I ended up loving it! I took all four classes and I soon realized that I wanted to learn as much as possible about cake decorating.

The more cakes I made the more I wanted to make!

I began reading books and going to seminars and classes. I have attended a class with Elisa Strauss of Confetti Cakes and I have also attended seminars taught by Ron Ben-Israel and Anne Heap of Pink Cake Box .  I am also a member of The New York City Cake Decorators Meetup Group.

Oh and by the way, neither my sister nor I ever made that cake for my niece! (I owe you Erin!)
